Training time caught on camera!
Hello guys! I’m glad to be back in here! If you follow me on Instagram you might have noticed that I have been posting videos on my YouTube channel about breastfeeding! I know that the breastfeeding was over 10 months ago but I wanted to film a series of those videos to help some of my friends who have had babies (especially Colombian friends) but I have done all videos in English as well just in case other people want to benefit from them!
Anyway, I want to write a little bit about parenting a toddler! I think parenting is one if not the most sanctifying thing a person would go through just because our kids see our character, our examples, our words, our behaviors and they imitate them! I have to say that I’m not one of these women who likes to talk about “how bad they are as parents and how much they suck at it, etc etc) in other words “I’m so bad” attitude and they feel kind of proud about it. Neither I think I’m Mrs. I have EVERYTHING figured out. But I do think that we are what we think and what we express with our words, so I like to think of myself as the example that my son is going to see day in and day out.
So I think that parenting is challenging because it pushes us through the exhaustion and pain sometimes in order to discipline, train and educate our children. I must say that one of my favorite parts about parenting is training and disciplining (it might sound so weird) but I do enjoy it because those are the chances I get to mold Marco into a man of character and the man that God wants him to be (so I think of it as a HUGE responsibility). Yes, obviously some days are just exhausting and draining but they are not the end of the world! One of the things I find fascinating is the ability to know, sense and understand our children even when they are tiny little ones, for example their different type of cries, what frustrate them and what makes them happy. Children don’t just cry because they are crazy! There is a reason behind it, is all I’m saying. So when we know our babies, it becomes very easy to train and discipline them. So, because I’m molding my child I DO NOT offer him options of cereals, juices or options of anything really! Why? Why do I want to complicate their lives and our lives? Simple, there is orange juice with breakfast and that’s it! Don’t want it? Then don’t drink it, but that’s all there is. You see? No choices, no chance for tantrums ; ) ! This society now is soooo “obsessed” with choices I can’t even believe it, and that’s one of the reasons why there are so many baby brats and so many parents who are afraid of their own children!
My mother would always say, kids need to grow with a little bit of hunger, a little bit of cold, and a little bit of discomfort and I so get it! To teach Marco about what’s appropriate and what’s not is obviously not easy because we all want to do the opposite of what we are supposed to do! It’s just the way it is, but there is where I find myself breaking his normal rebellious character and turning it into what he is supposed to be and do! That’s why parenting is challenging because it exhausts our whole being at times! But I guess the trick is not to give up but keep on going because I believe it’s worth it! But hey, this is just the beginning of my journey as a mother and my first child as many of you would most likely say.
Thank you guys for stopping by to read a little! And please remember that we as women are way more than fashion and material stuff! Muuuuuuuuak, kisses and I hope you have a fabulous weekend ; ) !
P.S As moms, this is the BEST time of our lives! This will never come back! It is our choice to feel and be fabulous ; ).
